Overview

Dr Harris graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University. Her doctoral dissertation, The Moment of Death in Renaissance Art, considered artistic depictions of dead and dying bodies in Italy circa 1400-1530. She has been a Curatorial Fellow for the Department of European Sculpture and Decorative Arts at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and a Kress Foundation Fellow at the Warburg Institute in London. She has a master’s degree in Medieval Studies from the University of Oxford, and a bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Edinburgh. She has been the recipient of numerous research and travel awards, including grants from Smarthistory, the Italian Art Association, and the Mellon Research Initiative. She is particularly interested in the representation of love and death in medieval and early modern art.
