Overview

I am undertaking a PhD in Art History and Visual Culture here at Exeter, and my project focuses on mermaids and sirens as figures of indeterminate gender in the art and poetry of the late Victorian Era. I will also be looking at how these figures may still be used as symbols for transgender and non-binary communities today. I previously studied English (BA) and Victorian Literature, Art and Culture (MA) at Royal Holloway, University of London.
